(Member Application)
Active Membership
An active membership may be granted to actively practicing osteopathic physicians who are graduates of a college approved by the AOA; who are duly licensed in the state of South Carolina, have completed the appropriate application process in accordance with the By-Laws of this Society; and are current with their dues. Active members in good standing are entitled to full voting privileges. Dues will be set at the discretion of the Executive Committee and approved by the Board of Trustees.


Honorary Life Membership
Any physician and/or surgeon may be granted a free honorary life membership who:
• Has reached the age of sixty-five (65);
• Has held or currently holds a license to practice in the state of South Carolina;
• Is in good standing with the Association; and
• Is semi- to permanently retired.

Retired Membership
A retired membership may be granted to any semi- to permanently retired osteopathic physician who has held or currently holds a license to practice in the state of South Carolina. Dues will be set at the discretion of the Executive Committee and approved by the Board of Trustees.

Military Membership
Osteopathic physicians and/or surgeons who are in the service branch of the United States military; are stationed in South Carolina or claim South Carolina as their home state; and hold a valid license in their home state may be eligible for a voting membership. Dues will be set at the discretion of the Executive Committee and approved by the Board of Trustees.

Resident Membership
Residents who are duly licensed and are serving in an approved residency program may be granted membership upon application and for the duration of that residency. Dues will be set at the discretion of the Executive Committee and approved by the Board of Trustees.

Out-of-State Membership
The Society may accept into non-voting membership osteopathic physicians who meet the active member requirements but live out-of-state. Dues will be set at the discretion of the Executive Committee and approved by the Board of Trustees.

Associate Membership
A non-voting Associate membership may be granted to non-osteopathic physicians and the medical community at-large after having completed the appropriate application process and receiving approval from the Executive Committee and then Board of Trustees. Associate membership may not be available to any osteopathic physician or to any student in an osteopathic institution. Dues will be set at the discretion of the Executive Committee and approved by the Board of Trustees.

Intern Membership
Interns who are serving in an approved internship may become non-voting members of this Society upon application and for the duration of the internship. Such members shall pay no dues.

Student Membership
A non-voting Student membership status may be granted to any student currently enrolled in an AOA accredited college of osteopathic medicine, upon application. Such members shall pay no dues.
